The Department of Health and Emergency Services has signed an MoU with United States International University (USIU-Africa) where the University will use the Machakos County Level 5 Hospital as a Teaching and Training hospital.
The MoU was signed by Hon. Naomi Mutie the Minister for Health and Emergency Services on behalf of the County Government of Machakos while USIU Vice Chancellor Prof. Freida Brown who was accompanied by the University's DVC, Academic Affairs Prof. Mathew O. Buyu and the Assistant Dean School of Sciences and Technology Prof. Paul Okanda signed on behalf of the University.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), USIU will help in the development of pharmacy department and capacity building as well as offer advice to the hospital in its efforts to attain certification for the sixth WHO pillar in the pharmacy department. The University will also advise on the implementation of pharmacy department information system model.
Last week, the Hospital signed an MOU with Mount Kenya University seeking to offer medical students from the university opportunities during practicum’s (Clinical Medicine).
